Filtration

What is being filtered out with
the Blackline RO system

What is being filtered:

Reverse osmosis water filtration

Our Blackline RO reverse osmosis water filtration system offers a combination of a pre-filter, coconut-based granular activated carbon (GAC), an RO membrane, and a coconut-based activated carbon block cartridge. This combination provides the most effective water filtration possible and offers efficient removal of several hundred different impurities. The main impurities filtered out of your drinking water are:

1. Particles and physical impurities (Pre-filter, GAC + Carbon Block + RO membrane)

  • Sand

  • Rust

  • Sludge

  • Colloids

  • Turbidity

  • Microplastics

  • Fine particles down to 0.5–1 µm (carbon block)

  • Ultrafine particles <0.0001 µm (RO)

2. Heavy metals and inorganic substances (RO membrane)

  • Lead

  • Mercury

  • Arsenic

  • Cadmium

  • Chromium

  • Iron

  • Manganese

  • Limescale (calcium)

  • Magnesium

  • Fluoride

  • Nitrate & nitrite

  • Sulfate

  • Salts and TDS in general

Removal rate: 90–99+%

3. PFAS (RO membrane + Carbon Block)

  • PFOS

  • PFOA

  • PFHxS

  • PFNA

  • PFBS

  • TFA

  • GenX

  • As well as many other short- and long-chain PFAS compounds

Removal rate: 95–99+%

4. Organic chemicals (GAC + Carbon Block + RO membrane)

Effectively removed by the two activated carbon filters:

  • Pesticides

  • Herbicides

  • Pharmaceutical residues

  • Endocrine disruptors

  • Dissolved organic compounds

  • Many VOCs (benzene, toluene, etc.)

  • Taste and odor compounds

  • Chlorine (Cl₂)

  • Chloramine

  • Trihalomethanes (THM)

  • Microorganism metabolites (geosmin, MIB)

The RO membrane contributes by removing:

  • Small organic molecules larger than the membrane’s pore size

  • Additional VOCs

5. Microbiological contaminants (RO membrane + Carbon Block)

  • Bacteria (physically retained by the RO membrane)

  • Viruses (very high retention)

  • Parasites (Giardia, Cryptosporidium)

  • Biofilm substances (removed by the carbon block)
