Filtration

Coconut based carbon block
and membrane water filtration

What is being filtered:

What is being filtered out of your drinking water?

We offer the latest generation of coconut-based activated carbon block and membrane filtration that ensure highly efficient water filtration of your drinking water. All our cartridges are internationally approved by, among others, NSF and FDA and have NSF/ANSI 42/53/58 approvals.

Outlined below is a summary of the impurities that can be effectively filtered or greatly reduced from your drinking water.

What is being filtered with our coconut based activated carbon blocks:

Coconut-Based Activated Carbon Block Filtration

Coconut-based activated carbon block filtration is one of the most effective forms of water filtration and forms the foundation of all our filter solutions. With a coconut-based activated carbon block alone, you achieve both extremely efficient filtration of your drinking water and preserve all the healthy and essential minerals in the water.

We have combined several of our filters with ultramembrane for filtering bacteria, among other contaminants, but the activated carbon block is responsible for filtering out pesticides, herbicides, PFOA, PFNA, PFOS, chlorine, and chlorine byproducts, making it a crucial part of all our filter solutions.

What is Filtered Out by the Coconut-Based Activated Carbon Block:

Chemical Contaminants:

  • Chlorine and chlorine compounds (e.g., chloramines)

  • Trihalomethanes (THMs) (byproducts of water disinfection)

  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) (e.g., benzene, toluene, xylene)

  • Pesticides and herbicides (e.g., glyphosate, atrazine)

  • Pharmaceutical residues (e.g., hormone residues, antibiotics, painkillers)

  • Gasoline and oil compounds (e.g., gasoline, diesel, benzene, MTBE)

  • Industrial chemicals (e.g., PCBs, PFNA/PFOS/PFOA, dioxins)

Heavy Metals:

  • Lead

  • Mercury

  • Cadmium

  • Copper

  • Arsenic (partially)

  • Aluminum

Physical Contaminants:

  • Microplastics

  • Rust and sediments

  • Organic materials

Taste and Odor Improvement:

  • Removes unwanted taste and odor from the water

  • Reduces sulfur compounds

What is being filtered with our 0.1 micrometer cartridges:

Combined Coconut-Based Activated Carbon Block and 0.1-Micron Ultramembrane

The Ultra and UF cartridges combine the highly effective properties of coconut-based activated carbon block filtration with a 0.1-micron ultramembrane, enabling it to filter out the following bacteria and impurities:

Bacteria and Microorganisms:

  • Legionella pneumophila – A bacterium that can cause Legionnaires' disease, a severe form of pneumonia.

  • Legionella spp. – Various species of Legionella bacteria.

  • Escherichia coli (E. coli) – A bacterium commonly found in the intestines of humans and animals.

  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa – A bacterium found in water and the environment that can cause infections, particularly in individuals with weakened immune systems.

  • Amoeba-associated bacteria – Bacteria that are associated with amoebas.

  • Mycobacterium – A genus of bacteria, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which causes tuberculosis.

  • Vibrio cholerae – The bacterium responsible for cholera.

  • Streptococcus – A group of bacteria that can cause various infections, including strep throat and skin infections.

  • Cryptosporidium – A parasite that can cause gastrointestinal infections.

  • Cysts – Enclosed sacs or cavities in the body that may contain fluid, air, or other substances.

  • Giardia – A parasite that causes gastrointestinal infections known as giardiasis.

  • Staphylococcus – A group of bacteria that can cause infections such as skin infections and food poisoning.

  • Brevundimonas – A genus of bacteria found in the environment, rarely causing infections in humans.

Further filtration with Blackline RO reverse osmosis filter system:

Reverse osmosis uses multiple types of filtration. As with the solutions mentioned above, it also employs a coconut-based activated carbon block cartridge, combined with granular carbon and a membrane with a pore size of 0.0001 µm. This combination provides the most effective water filtration available today and allows even short-chain PFAS substances—such as TFA, PFBS, and PFBA—to be removed.

Reverse osmosis filters drinking water with an efficiency of up to 99.9% and removes hundreds of potential contaminants, including:

  • Heavy metals: Lead, Arsenic, Nickel, Cadmium

  • Nitrate and nitrite: From agricultural fertilizer

  • PFAS: All types of PFAS, including TFA, PFOS, PFNA, PFBS, and PFBA

  • Pesticides and herbicides: BAM, glyphosate, chloridazon

  • Chlorine and chloramines: All chlorine and chlorine by-products

  • Limescale: Effective removal of limescale from water

  • Fluoride: High removal of fluoride

  • Organic chemicals and solvents: TCE, PCE, VOCs

  • Microorganisms: Bacteria, viruses, protozoa

  • Particles and sediment: Sand, rust, and sludge

Reverse osmosis is a more expensive and complex solution to install. However, once installed, maintenance is just as simple as with our other under-sink solutions, and future filter replacements are quick and easy.

Healthy minerals

The essential and healthy minerals in water are preserved with all of our filter cartridges. Our ultramembranes filter down to 0.1 micrometer, which removes even bacteria, while minerals—which are only removed at 0.001 micrometer (with nanofiltration or reverse osmosis)—remain in the water. The result is healthy and great-tasting drinking water. Our Blackline reverse osmosis system comes with a remineralization cartridge that can add these healthy minerals back into the water.
