Filtration

What is being filtered
out of your drinking water

What is being filtered:

Coconut based activated carbon block and ultra membrane water filtration

We provide the latest generation of coconut-based active carbon block and ultramembrane water filters, delivering eco-friendly, high performance water filtration down to 0,1 micrometer - without loss of healthy minerals.

Outlined below is a summary of the impurities that can be effectively filtered or greatly reduced from your drinking water.

PFAS

PFOA, PFOS, and PFNA are among the biggest threats to drinking water and a threat that has become very real in recent years, as more extensive testing of drinking water has shown how widespread PFAS substances, actually are in the drinking water. PFAS is associated with the risk of various types of cancer, reproductive and developmental problems, neurological issues such as developmental delays and ADHD, as well as the ability to lose weight.

Pharmaceutical residues

Drugs and medication residues are a growing problem and drugs are found in drinking water more and more often. The precise effect of long-term exposure to a cocktail of pharmaceutical residues is still a subject of ongoing research.

Pesticides

Pesticide residues are found in drinking water all over Europe and the US, and is a problem that is here to stay. Especially drinking water from ground water is found to contain pesticides. Pesticides have been linked to various health issues, including neurological disorders, reproductive problems, and certain forms of cancer.

Heavy metals

Heavy metals such as arsenic, cadmium, nickel, mercury, copper, chromium, zinc, and lead, which can come from a wide range of sources, including old water pipes, pose a health risk even in very small quantities.

Chlorine and chlorine by-products

When chlorine is added to water, it reacts with existing organic compounds, resulting in the formation of disinfection byproducts (DBPs), most notably trihalomethanes (THMs). This goes for both drinking water and especially when showering in heated chlorine steams. Chlorine by-products are linked to several forms of cancer.

Healthy Minerals
The healthy and essential minerals remain in the water with all our cartridges. Our ultramembrane filter down to 0.1 micrometers, filtering out even bacteria. However, minerals are only filtered out at 0.001 micrometers (nanofiltration and reverse osmosis), which means the water remains both healthy and tasty.

What is being filtered with our coconut based activated carbon blocks:

Coconut-Based Activated Carbon Block Filtration

Coconut-based activated carbon block filtration is one of the most effective forms of water filtration and forms the foundation of all our filter solutions. With a coconut-based activated carbon block alone, you achieve both extremely efficient filtration of your drinking water and preserve all the healthy and essential minerals in the water.

We have combined several of our filters with ultramembrane for filtering bacteria, among other contaminants, but the activated carbon block is responsible for filtering out pesticides, herbicides, PFOA, PFNA, PFOS, chlorine, and chlorine byproducts, making it a crucial part of all our filter solutions.

What is Filtered Out by the Coconut-Based Activated Carbon Block?

Chemical Contaminants:

  • Chlorine and chlorine compounds (e.g., chloramines)

  • Trihalomethanes (THMs) (byproducts of water disinfection)

  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) (e.g., benzene, toluene, xylene)

  • Pesticides and herbicides (e.g., glyphosate, atrazine)

  • Pharmaceutical residues (e.g., hormone residues, antibiotics, painkillers)

  • Gasoline and oil compounds (e.g., gasoline, diesel, benzene, MTBE)

  • Industrial chemicals (e.g., PCBs, PFNA/PFOS/PFOA, dioxins)

Heavy Metals:

  • Lead

  • Mercury

  • Cadmium

  • Copper

  • Arsenic (partially)

  • Aluminum

Physical Contaminants:

  • Microplastics

  • Rust and sediments

  • Organic materials

Taste and Odor Improvement:

  • Removes unwanted taste and odor from the water

  • Reduces sulfur compounds

What is being filtered with our 0.1 micrometer cartridges:

Combined Coconut-Based Activated Carbon Block and 0.1-Micron Ultramembrane

The Ultra and UF cartridges combines the highly effective properties of coconut-based activated carbon block filtration with a 0.1-micron ultramembrane, enabling it to filter out the following bacteria and impurities:

Bacteria and Microorganisms:

  • Legionella pneumophila – A bacterium that can cause Legionnaires' disease, a severe form of pneumonia.

  • Legionella spp. – Various species of Legionella bacteria.

  • Escherichia coli (E. coli) – A bacterium commonly found in the intestines of humans and animals.

  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa – A bacterium found in water and the environment that can cause infections, particularly in individuals with weakened immune systems.

  • Amoeba-associated bacteria – Bacteria that are associated with amoebas.

  • Mycobacterium – A genus of bacteria, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which causes tuberculosis.

  • Vibrio cholerae – The bacterium responsible for cholera.

  • Streptococcus – A group of bacteria that can cause various infections, including strep throat and skin infections.

  • Cryptosporidium – A parasite that can cause gastrointestinal infections.

  • Cysts – Enclosed sacs or cavities in the body that may contain fluid, air, or other substances.

  • Giardia – A parasite that causes gastrointestinal infections known as giardiasis.

  • Staphylococcus – A group of bacteria that can cause infections such as skin infections and food poisoning.

  • Brevundimonas – A genus of bacteria found in the environment, rarely causing infections in humans.

Additional Impurities Filtered:

  • Kaolin – A type of clay, also known as porcelain clay, used in various industrial applications.

  • Polymerized latex – Refers to latex that has undergone polymerization, forming long molecular chains that give it elastic properties.

  • Arsenic – A toxic element that can naturally occur in groundwater or result from pollution. Long-term exposure can cause severe health effects, including cancer, skin disorders, and nervous system damage.

  • Fluoride – A naturally occurring compound of fluorine found in varying amounts in groundwater and surface water. Fluoride can be both beneficial and harmful depending on its concentration in drinking water.
